NDC Industry Scholarship
Note: This scholarhip will not be awarded in 2004.
Industry scholarships
are initially awarded (subject to availability) at the completion of
first year to continuing local students with outstanding potential who
are enrolled as a full-time student in a specified undergraduate program
in the Higher Education Division at Swinburne University of Technology.
The Industry Scholarship,
in addition to the tax-free stipend that continues for the duration
of a student's course, offers you a paid Industry-Based Learning Placement
with the industry sponsor and the opportunity for part-time work after
IBL. A Personal Development and Leadership mentoring program will be
provided along with the opportunity to complete a final year research
project at the industry sponsor. The Industry Scholarship will no doubt
provide a great opportunity for 'fast-tracked' graduate employment!
The scholarship
continues for the duration of a student's course provided that they
continue to achieve satisfactory academic progress, meet the performance
outcomes of the personal development and leadership program, and continuing
receipt of funding from the industry sponsor.
The personal development
and leadership program comprises a pastoral/mentoring program to extend
professional and personal skills such as leadership, communication,
teamwork, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, and change management.
The program may also include some specific assignments, attendance and
participation in special industry events and presentations.
To apply students
are require to submit a written application addressing the following
criteria:
- Outstanding potential
- Demonstrated
leadership attributes
- Desire to make
a career start in the relevant industry
- Other extra-curricular
activities such as community / service / sport involvement / etc.
- Academic performance
Students will be
required to make a short presentation to the Selection Panel with regard
to the required attributes to assist selection of successful applicants.
