In 2008 a number of executive education workshops dealing with key elements of philanthropy and social investment will be offered by the Asia-Pacific Centre for Philanthropy and Social Investment at Swinburne. The workshops draw on the Centre's pioneering Masters program and offer a comprehensive overview of the field and rich opportunities for collegial networking. They also include outstanding guest speakers from the philanthropic, corporate and community sectors.
Our first speaker is: Peter Hero, International Social Investment Expert
We are excited that Peter Hero, one of the great international champions of giving and fundraising, has agreed to lead our first workshop for 2008. He will share his techniques for motiving people and organisations, explain Corporate Social Responsibility, discuss international philanthropic trends for application in Australia and provide guidance for social entrepreneurs, based on his success in Silicon Valley.
About Peter Hero
Peter was President of Community Foundation Silicon Valley (1989 to 2006) overseeing the growth of assets from $7M to $1.7B, and managing grants of $100M through the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund. Peter is a Board member of many leading philanthropic bodies including the Skoll and eBay Foundations, the Haas Center for Public at Service at Stanford University, the American India Foundation. He is a Synergos Foundation Global Fellow (2004), and serves on the board of the Melbourne Community Foundation.
