Who can access EAP?
The Employee Assistance Program is available to all continuing and fixed term, full time and part time staff at Swinburne University of Technology.

How can the EAP help you?
The EAP is about short-term, solution focused counselling. The counselling discussion is informal, friendly and focused on your needs. It can be face to face or over the phone, whichever is more convenient for you.
Counselling can help you to:
 |
Clarify a problem |
 |
Identify options and |
 |
Develop plans to approach difficult issues in a constructive manner. |
After counselling, your EAP counsellor may suggest that other further assistance may be useful. If you choose to take up a referral outside of the EAP, you are responsible for any costs. Where possible referral is made to a service that is free or within your capacity to pay.

Who is the Service Provider?
The EAP is provided by an independent company called Davidson Trahaire. Davidson Trahaire counsellors are all registered psychologists, who have extensive training in counselling and workplace consulting.

How can I access the EAP?
EAP appointments can be made by telephoning Davidson Trahaire. Your manager, supervisor or Human Resources Consultant may suggest the use of the EAP, but attendance is entirely voluntary.

When can I access the EAP?
You can access the EAP in your own time. In this case no one will know. Or you may request through your manager, to attend an appointment during work time. If approved, you should agree on a suitable time with your manager or supervisor before confirming a time with Davidson Trahaire. It is not necessary to divulge the nature of the problem when requesting time to attend.
 |
Hours of Operation and Services Available:
Davidson Trahaire operates during core business hours, from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. During this time all services are available, either via telephone or in a face-to-face setting. In addition, a number of Davidson Trahaire locations provide services outside these hours on a regular basis, including evening and weekend counselling. |

Confidentiality?
All EAP consultations are confidential and Davidson Trahaire will not share information about you with anyone unless authorised to do so by you in writing.
In the case of workplace issues, you may authorise your counsellor to discuss the matter with another person you nominate to help address the situation.
