Commercialisation Training Scheme

Information for Swinburne Students

The scheme will provide funding to domestic HDR Swinburne students to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship. Specifically, the scheme covers the course fees, plus 6 months stipend as described below.

This program is available in Semester 2, 2008, commencing 11th August 2007.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the CTS support students must:

  • be a domestic* student, and (* = Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand citizen);
  • be a full time confirmed HDR candidate;
  • undertake the Graduate Certificate on a part time basis and concurrently with your HDR program [which will require a 6 month extension of overall time];
  • not have previously completed commercialisation training;
  • have completed at least 12 months of their HDR program;
  • be making above average progress; and
  • be on track to submit their thesis for examination within the required timeframe.

Selection Procedures

Preference will be given to candidates:

  • who can best demonstrate that the skills, knowledge and experience gained by completing the Graduate Certificate will bring research-based ideas, inventions and innovation to market; and
  • who have the best prospects of pursuing a career that will utilise the skill, knowledge and experience gained by completing the Graduate Certificate; and
  • whose Coordinating Supervisor and Faculty have strongly endorsed their application.

 

CTS Scholarship

An extension of time of 6 months will be granted to allow for the workload in the Graduate Certificate, for which the CTS Scholarship provides a stipend equivalent to that under an APA.

Scholarship recipients must:

  • not undertake full time employment during the period of the CTS Scholarship
  • not be concurrently enrolled in any program other than the HDR.
