2009 Minimum Requirements

Swinburne University of Technology has established minimum academic requirements for all Non-Year 12 Applicants wishing to apply for undergraduate Higher Education bachelor degree programs. These requirements pertain to applicants applying via VTAC, Mid Year Entry and also our Pathways Direct scheme (for currently enrolled Swinburne TAFE students). Pathways Direct students should refer to http://www.swinburne.edu.au/hed/direct for further information.

VTAC and Mid Year Entry Requirements

Top

The following criteria will be considered during selection of Non-Year 12 Applicants for both VTAC Entry and Mid Year Entry:

Previous Year 12 results

Previous TAFE results

The grade point average of previous tertiary studies

Meeting specified program pre-requisites as detailed in individual program entries in the VTAC Guide or on Coursefinder.

Completion of other selection application requirements as detailed in individual program entries in the VTAC Guide or on Coursefinder.

Applicants should be aware that because of the demand for places, meeting the criteria listed below does not guarantee entry into a program. Selection is based on academic merit, subsequently high grade results attract a higher weighting and lower grades attract a lower weighting. An offer of a place is also subject to places being available. More information on Minimum Requirements for Non-Year 12 applicants wishing to apply for Swinburne programs is detailed in the tables below.

Ungraded Results -VTAC Entry Applicants

Scored or graded results are used to assess, compare and differentiate between applicants. Applicants who have unscored results should provide additional scored information showing numerical results or grades with their VTAC application. This information should include previous Year 12 results, TAFE results or any other post-secondary program results as appropriate, showing numerical results or grades such as High Distinction, Distinction, Credit or A, B, C, etc.

Some programs require Non-Year 12 applicants with ungraded results to complete a Special Tertiary Admissions Test -(Multiple Choice Test) otherwise known as 'STAT' Applicants should refer to 'Extra Requirements' for individual program entries in the VTAC Guide to find out if Non-Year 12 applicants are required to complete a STAT and should also refer to the Swinburne's Special Tertiary Admissions Test section of the VTAC Guide to find out if they fall within the categories of applicants who must complete a STAT.

Ungraded Results -Mid-Year Entry Applicants

Mid-Year Entry applicants must meet the same criteria detailed for VTAC applicants, except that they are not required to sit a STAT. Applicants must provide certified copies of their graded or scored results from previous studies with their Mid-Year Application Form.
