The Outer East encompasses areas of great natural beauty including the Dandenong Ranges National Park and Steavensons Falls - the highest waterfall in Victoria. The Yarra Ranges and parts of Knox are not only known for their spectacular scenery, but also for their agricultural products. Personal trust is still alive in the produce and flower trade in the area where goods are sold at unmanned roadside stalls with 'honesty boxes'.
The Yarra Valley is premier cold climate wine growing district of world renown. The area is dotted with historic buildings and structures from the past including Gulf Station.
Corranderrk Aboriginal Station is believed to be the site of the first organized Aboriginal protest movement against the harsh treatment received from the Board for Protection of Aboriginies.
The Warburton Rail Trail is a very scenic and well maintained walking/cycling/horse riding path that follows the now defunct rail trail to Warburton. Rail enthusiast can take a trip on Puffing Billy or visit the historic bridges that are part of the railway tracks from Belgrave to Emerald.
