- The program is available in both full-time and part-time modes.
- The most appropriate subject selections are those which represent the first half of Swinburne's Graduate Diploma of Diploma of Information Technology.
- Students may select any 4 of IT subjects available, thereby tailoring studies for area of interest.
- Students who have already studied IT at a tertiary level may be able to select subjects from the Master of Information Technology with the purpose of augmenting previous knowledge at an advanced level.
- Course content is designed to meet the needs of employers and industry demand.
Course Description
The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology provides a practical introduction to IT for students who have no formal qualification but have significant relevant work experience in the discipline. A wide range of electives are available for students adding to existing qualifications or wishing to continue into the Graduate Diploma.
Aims and Objectives
- Provide an introduction to IT studies;
- Deliver a program that complements and builds on previous studies or experiences; and
- Strong articulation program with pathway to the Graduate Diploma and Master of Technology (Information Technology).
Entrance Requirements
No tertiary qualification is required.
Graduate Certificate in IT requires at least four years relevant work experience.
Program Structure
The graduate certificate consists of four units of study (50 credit points). The program is available in both full-time and part-time modes. Part-time mode includes the possibility of studying one unit of study at a time. Evening classes are available in most units of study. Entry is possible in both Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (July).
