Course Description

This is a five year double degree program in Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Computer Systems)/Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Software Engineering). The course provides the hardware and software aspects of design and development combined with basic engineering principles underlying electrical and electronic engineering with emphasis on electronic and micro-controllers-based design, operation and control of electrical machines, power system generation and distribution, systems modelling, automation and control.


Aims and Objectives

  • Develop design expertise in electronics, computer systems and software engineering;
  • Cultivate innovation in the pursuit of solutions to engineering problems;
  • Give students an appropriate introduction to the role of the professional engineer in the community and to explore the social effects of engineering decisions; and
  • A sound knowledge of computer science and software engineering;


Entrance Requirements

Successful completion of an appropriate Victorian Year 12 or its equivalent.

VCE Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 20 in English and at least 25 in Mathematical Methods and in one of Biology, Chemistry, Information Technology: Information Systems, Physics, Psychology or Specialist Mathematics.


Program Structure

The course involves completion of 40 subjects (or equivalent) over a full-time five year period. Entry is possible in both Semester 1 (Feb) and Semester 2 (July). An optional optional Industry-Based Learning year is available to students.

All students will undertake an Industry Linked Final Year Project.
