The Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies at Swinburne is host to five of the key University research centres, which provide the focal points of research in the Faculty. Each of our centres commands an international reputation in it's areas of expertise and enjoy strong support from competitive research grants and generous industry sponsorships.
Faculty Research Centres
- Centre for Advanced Internet Architectures (CAIA)We currently conduct industry-relevant research in four broad areas: Broadband IP access architectures, IP network resilience and security, IP mobility and Energy efficient networking.
- Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing (CAS)The Centre is Australia's newest and fastest growing astronomy centre and one of the largest astronomical research Centres in Australia.
- Centre for Computing Engineering and Software Systems (SUCCESS)The mission of SUCCESS is to be a leading centre for software research, to achieve world renowned software innovation and engineering development with a balanced theoretic, applied, industry and education impact.
Faculty Research Groups
- Research into Information Systems in Organisations (RISO)Information Systems researchers who undertake largely empirically-based, applied research of interest and relevance to key constituents in the broad Information Systems community.
- Molecular Simulation (MS)Provides a focus for research in molecular simulation, providing fundamental insights into natural phenomena at the atomic level. CMS utilises Monte Carlo, equilibrium molecular dynamics and non-equilibrium molecular dynamics techniques which are used to explore a wide range of phenomena such as phase equilibria, transport phenomena and nanotechnology.
- Education Reseach Interest Group ERIG is a forum for staff interested in researching the challenges faced by academics in the development and delivery of innovative ICT education as a means of progressing ICT contemporary education and scholarship.
