The mission for the Centre for Information Technology Research (CITR) is to significantly advance Information Technology theory and practice, embracing Intelligent Systems, Software Engineering, and delivering high-quality results, leading-edge technologies and novel business solutions of national and international benefit.

CITR Background Information

The Centre for Information Technology Research (CITR) was established at Swinburne in late 2005 within the Faculty of ICT as the University's locus for research in computer science, software engineering and informations systems. It has been awarded "Tier 1" status along with 6 other premier centres at the University.

CITR builds on the research strengths and prior collaborative research carried out by the following former IT-oriented research centres in the Faculty:

CITR carries out research in close collaboration with industry and research partners nationally and internationally, supported by a wide range of research grants, strategic partnership arrangements and industrial R&D projects. With some 70 research staff and postgraduate research students, and a substantial portfolio of aligned research activities CITR is emerging as one of the fastest growing and most concentrated IT research centres in Australia.
