Software Analysis and Testing

Aim: It is the goal of this focus group to promote quality, pure and applied research in fields of software analysis and testing.

Aim: This focus group aims to conduct world class research on provision of leading edge software platforms for productive software development and applications, focusing on cloud computing, software services, methods, techniques, and quality.

Knowledge and Data Intensive Systems

Aim: The area of Knowledge and Data Intensive Systems aims at innovative research on developing efficient and effective software systems that provide valuable information from raw data, learn useful knowledge from obtained information and use learned knowledge for achieving goals in various applications. Knowledge and Data Intensive Systems embrace expertise in database, intelligent agent and other technologies.

Nature of Software

Aim: This Focus Group ‘The Nature of Software’, in research and education, aims at developing a comprehensive understanding of the principles, techniques, and socio-economic elements underlying the specification, implementation, analysis, use, and maintenance of modern evolving software systems. It is the stated goal of this focus group to advance and mature both the technological foundations and the thought processes governing the production of state-of-the-art software systems in Australia and abroad.

Software Education

Aim: It is the goal of this focus group to advance and mature both research into computing education in Australia and abroad and to significantly impact and improve our own teaching practices and outcomes. In particular, the focus group seeks establish Swinburne University of Technology as the prime competence centre for software engineering education research in Australia.

Aim: The mission of the Software R&D Services group is to provide quality research and development services to the Swinburne community and industry. The software developed will follow disciplined development and best practice processes and risk management.
