Alston Soares
Master of Information Systems Management
I enjoy the way the course is structured. It is tough and very rigorous, but you don’t want to go into the workforce unprepared, the Masters is focused on many areas I am interested in like systems development and analysis so it’s been a good preparation for my move into the IT industry.
This is particularly true given the course is accredited at Professional Level (the highest level) towards membership with the Australian Computer Society.
After studying for two years at Swinburne Alston became an Australian resident and plans a career here as a systems analyst. He is positive about his career prospects.
My accounting systems knowledge combined with my new IT skills puts me in a good position to start my career once I have completed my Masters.

Gregorius Lesmana
Master of Information Technology Specialising in Network Design and Security
Studying IT in Indonesia I became aware of Swinburne University through its links with my College. The opportunity to study abroad was a personal goal and Swinburne offered IT programs designed to maximise my credit and study opportunities. I initially commenced the Bachelor of Science(IT) and on completion began the Master of Information Technology (MIT). I am undertaking the Network, Design and Security stream in the MIT and have enjoyed being able to tailor my studies by selecting my own units. I am currently preparing to sit for the CCNA Certification and will look for a position as a network engineer following my graduation. I recommend Swinburne to future students

Studying IT at Kiel University in Germany I chose to undertake a 1 semester exchange agreement with Swinburne University. The opportunity to undertake 4 units in the Master of Information Technology (MIT) has been a great experience as the program offers a wide range of electives allowing me to specialise in my areas of interest i.e. software quality management and programming. The MIT at Swinburne not only gives me an international perspective on studies but will allow me to further develop my dual language abilities.

I completed my Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology at Swinburne and was well equipped in programming knowledge. After working as a programmer in several IT companies, I've decided to return and further my career by undertaking the Master of Science (Networking).
The program has offered me strong practical knowledge on how to handle real world scenarios from Installation to the management of networks. Units delivered in the program are well structured and targeted to industry demand areas in the Networking and ICT industry. The network laboratories are well equipped with CISCO industry standards, and relevant equipment allowing the practical implementation of advanced theoretical knowledge.

Working as a Network Engineer in Chennai, India I was ready to expand my skills and understanding by undertaking further studies specialising in network systems. I discovered Swinburne University through the World Wide Web, and found the course information informative and clear.
I chose to study the Master of Information Technology (MIT) as it allowed me to specialise in network systems. I am now in my final semester of studies and have found my university experience rewarding. I joined the Swinburne International Student Association (SISA) and have found it easy making other friends through attending events and activities with other students. Swinburne has a great atmosphere and is conducive to studying with excellent computer lab facilities and friendly staff who have been both helpful and knowledgeable.
The MIT provides industry relevant studies and gave me the ability to become CISCO certified and develop hands on skills working with routers and networks. I have been able to obtain a seasonal contract position as a network engineer in Melbourne, which has made my student experience more rounded and diverse. On completion of my studies I am confident that the MIT will address the needs of industry and increase my employment options. I recommend Swinburne to future students.

Tariq Al-Barwani
Master of Information Technology
Unlike other universities, Swinburne’s courses are practical as well as being theory-based. I chose to study at Swinburne because the University offers cutting-edge ICT courses that ensure graduates are ahead of the rest in the job market.
I also gained a lot of valuable experience working for the Faculty of ICT at Swinburne. As an international student, I had the benefit of meeting other students from around the world, as well as Australian students, and sharing and exchanging information with them. This is the sort of valuable international experience that is highly sought after in the workplace.
Tariq has recently become the first Omani to be awarded Microsoft's "Most Valuable Professional" (MVP) award. These are awarded to "exceptional technical community leaders from around the world who are awarded for voluntarily sharing their high quality, real world expertise in offline and online technical communities".
