Industry-Based Learning


How to Apply for an Industry-Based Learning Placement

  1. Attend an IBL information session, usually held in March and August
  2. Contact the Faculty Industry-Based Learning Manager and complete an IBL application
  3. Once your application has been approved you will have access to IBL Pre-Placement on Blackboard iLearn where you can keep up to date with available positions.

 


Internships and Placements


Faculty of Life and Social Sciences

HAS308 : Internship in Social Research

This unit aims to give students experience of social research in the workplace under the supervision of an employer. It should also help students understand the principles involved in designing and carrying out a social research project as well as providing them with practical experience in doing this

HAP332: Internship in Political Research

The aim of this unit of study is to provide outstanding students with first-hand experience of operating in the Australian political environment.

Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies

HIT9326: Internship Project Unit

The Internship Project aims to assist you to further develop your professional and personal skills and encourage you to apply practical skills and theoretical knowledge in an IT industry context

HIT8432: Project Management Internship Project

This unit is delivered primarily through a supervised internship in industry, with reflection and learning of that experience

Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences

HED400: Professional Experience in Engineering

Encourages students to gain first-hand experience in an engineering-practice environment outside the university



Capstone Projects

 

HBY311N: Industry Consulting Project

This unit is project-based, and activities and resources are designed to support the project process. This unit will demonstrate an understanding of the connection between academic knowledge, employment performance and career opportunities for all undergraduate Faculty of Business and Enterprise.

 

   

Study Tours


European Union Study Tour

Swinburne's annual European Union Study Tour is a unique opportunity for students to visit key centres of the dynamic and increasingly integrated European Union. Throughout the tour, officials and business experts will brief the group on current political and commercial issues.

Asia Pacific Rim Study Tour

This tour visits several institutions, such as export and trade organisations, investment banks and business enterprises to give you a first hand experience of current cultural, political and regulatory environments of the destination countries.
