  • EBL's system requirements
To print or copy from the EBL Online Reader, you are required to install Adobe Reader.
EBL works best with Acrobat Reader version 9 or later.
    Update your Acrobat Reader

  • Acrobat Reader 8.x on the Linux Operating System
This Reader does not support ebooks plugin, and thus does not support viewing ebooks.

  • Printing
You can print up to 20% of the pages of any ebook.
You can copy/paste an additional 5% of the pages of any ebook.
Your copying and printing allowances for the current ebook are shown on the reader toolbar.
You can choose to print the current page, a range of pages, or selected chapters.

    Why can't I print?
EBL printing problems are usually related to Adobe Reader Preferences and/or Browser Settings.
If you experience problem with printing, please ensure -
+ you have Adobe Reader installed
+ your Adobe Reader Javascript Preferences (Edit->Preferences) have Acrobat Javascript enabled
+ your Adobe Reader Internet Preferences (Edit->Preferences) are set to "Open PDF in Browser"
+ your web browser has Javascript enabled.

  • Request ebooks
You can instantly view almost all of the 70,000 ebooks in EBL. Occasionally you may see a message under Loan Options "This book can be requested". Click the link, then fill in your personal details in the form to submit your request. Your request will be considered by library staff and we'll let you know.

Why do I have to make a request?
A small number of EBL ebooks have very expensive loan fees which may only be approved for staff and researchers. In other cases publisher restrictions require us to approve a loan before we can make the ebook available to you.

  • Download ebooks for reading off-line
Download Functionality is not available under Swinburne Library's subscription.

  • Load ebooks
If the pages of an ebook are slow to come through, switch the format to pdf by clicking the pdf option pdf icon from the online reader toolbar. This may speed up the download of the ebook.
