Reciprocal Borrowing for Swinburne Students and Staff
Reciprocal Borrowing allows Swinburne students and staff to borrow from other tertiary libraries through:
CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Program
Current Swinburne students and staff can register as borrowers at other Victorian tertiary libraries.
To obtain a CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing card
- Complete a registration form:
http://www.swinburne.edu.au/lib/forms/borrower_registration_caval.pdf
- Your borrower record will be checked to ensure you are in good standing with the library. (See 'Eligibility for Reciprocal Borrowing' below)
- An authorised CAVAL card with a borrowing expiry date will be issued and can be collected from the library.
- The card is designed to be used for subsequent years but needs to be authorised at the Library Service Desk once the date shown has passed. More information
To update your CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing card
Your CAVAL card can be used until you finish studying at Swinburne. To have your card updated:
- Take the card to any Swinburne campus library.
- Your authorised card with updated borrowing expiry date will be available for collection from the library on the next day.
- Take your authorised card to the other libraries you have enrolled at so they can update your record in their system.
University Library Australia
Current Swinburne students and staff in Australia who are living outside Victoria can register as borrowers at other tertiary libraries throughout Australia.
You can apply directly to the library you wish to borrow from. There is no need to contact Swinburne library. Applications are made in person unless the library has an online registration scheme.
Check the National Borrowing Scheme web page of the library you wish to join for any details about registration and borrowing conditions.
TAFE National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme
