How to obtain a borrower's card

On-going staff, sessional staff and fixed term contract staff

New staff are issued with a Swinburne staff identification card by Human Resources. This is also your library borrowing card.

To obtain a staff ID card:

  1. Complete a Staff Photo ID Application Form
  2. Send or fax the form to Human Resources (Mail no.14 or Fax 9214 8565)
  3. Human Resources will return the form to the staff member
  4. Take the returned application form to any camera point (eg. Student Administration office) and a photo ID card will be issued

Agency staff employed through an approved agency (eg. Skilled Engineering)

Agency staff whose work at Swinburne requires them to use library resources and facilities will be issued with a Staff Special Borrower card when they bring a completed Borrower Registration Swinburne Library Form (PDF) to the Service desk of the Library. The form must be authorised by the Head of School/Department and include the period for which library access is required.

Affiliated/freelance staff employed at the Creche, Student Union, Bookshop or Sport Centre of any Swinburne Campus or self contact teaching staff

Affiliated/freelance staff will be provided with a Staff Special Borrower card when they bring a completed Borrower Registration Swinburne Library Form (PDF) to the Service desk of the Library. The form must be authorised by the Head of School/Department and include the period for which library access is required.

Visiting academic or teacher employed at another institution (outside the Melbourne metropolitan area)

Visiting academics or teachers whose work at Swinburne requires them to use library resources and facilities will be provided with a Staff Special Borrower card when they bring a completed Borrower Registration Swinburne Library Form (PDF) to the Service desk of the Library. The form must be authorised by the Head of School/Department and include the period for which library access is required.
