Reserve collections

The Reserve collections aim to make available high demand material, particularly those included on student reading lists : see Reserve collections - a staff guide - Printable brochure (PDF)

  • Hard copy reserve (e.g books and videos)
    • High demand library books, particularly required or recommended textbooks, can be placed within the hard-copy reserve collection.
    • Audiovisual items can also be placed on reserve : see Audiovisual reserve
    • Most items placed on reserve are only available for two-hour loan to use within the Library.
    • To place a hard-copy item on reserve, submit an online Reserve Placement Form
    • Personal copies of items loaned to the library by teaching staff can also be placed on reserve.

Requesting material for the library

  • Staff are strongly encouraged to select books and other materials for the library to purchase.
  • Send any requests to your Liaison Librarian. You can do this in various ways:
    • email the details of the item directly to your Liaison Librarian
    • mark publishers' catalogues and blurbs and send them in the internal mail,
    • or submit an online purchase suggestion form

  • Your Liaison Librarian can provide more extensive help, such as assisting you find resources, conduct database searches, compile bibliographies, and purchase library materials.
