FLSS Welcomes AODC Delegates

1Swinburne University’s Faculty of Life and Social Sciences welcomed over 60 technical communicators at the eleventh annual Australasian Online Documentation and Content Conference (AODC).

Held at Mantra Legends Hotel on Queensland's Gold Coast from Wednesday 14th to Friday 16th May 2008, AODC brought together technical communicators and content developers across Australia to share information about Help systems, hypertext, online documentation and related issues.

2The Faculty of Life and Social Sciences sponsored the Welcome Reception after the first day’s session, offering a chance for delegates to network, socialise and relax with drinks and canapés.

“Swinburne's sponsoring of the Welcome drinks increased awareness of the Swinburne post-graduate courses, and in particular the ability to take the Grad Cert programme online, and to take single subjects,” said Mr Tony Self,  Swinburne University lecturer and Director of the Fellowship of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators.

3 “It also reinforced Swinburne's unique interest in the technical communication field, being the only Australian university to offer formal qualifications in the field. The presence of Swinburne graduates gave people the opportunity to find out first-hand what the programme is like and what its benefits are.”

Many thanks to Tony Self, who spoke on behalf of Swinburne University, and Penny Bradley at AODC.
