Evaluation of the Greenhouse Games
STATUS: COMPLETED
In 2008-09, Sustainability Victoria piloted three behaviour change projects (titled the GreenHouse Program) targeting households. A key measure of the success of the overall program was the extent to which the pilot projects built the capacity of participating households to change behaviour and reduce household consumption.
To monitor the effectiveness of pilot projects, the NCS drew on its extensive behaviour change and evaluation experience to evaluate the effectiveness of the three different approaches. The evaluation sought to provide Sustainability Victoria with evidence to assist in developing a scalable, cost-effective model for mass market roll-out in iterations of this innovative initiative.
The objectives of the GreenHouse program:
- Engage 10,000 Victorian households;
- Facilitate the uptake of SV’s “10 Smart Ways to live sustainably” actions;
- Reduce energy consumption of each participating household by at least 5%;
- Abate 10,000 tonne saving in GHG emissions (annualised over a 12 month period); and,
- Ensure awareness by the target group that the program is a Victorian Government initiative
