Knowledge Skills in Sustainability
Research and Development
PHASE 1 of 3
The National Centre for Sustainability worked throughout 2005 on 'Knowledge and Skills for Sustainability' projects with a wide range of stakeholders from government, industry, Industry Skills Councils, ITABS, RTOs and environmental educators to develop the Guideline Competency Standards for Sustainability (GCSS).
On the 3rd of May, 2005 the GCSS were officially ‘Noted’ by the National Training Quality Council. The GCSS are located on the National Training Information Service website (www.ntis.gov.au) and are now able to be imported into Training Packages.
This project was national in focus with representation from most states and territories around the country on the project reference committees. A number of resources that will assist you in understanding more about the role of sustainability in VET are located on the Reference page.
- Operator (GCSSUS01A) Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
- Supervisor (GCSSUS02A) Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
- Manager (GCSSUS03A) Develop workplace policy and procedures for sustainability
