Gitte Lindgaard holds the National Science & Engineering
Research Council (NSERC)/Cognos Chair in User-Centred Product Design
in the Human Oriented Technology Lab (HOTLab) of which she is the
Director as well as a full professor in the Department of Psychology
at Carleton University in Ottawa.
She is responsible for building
and expanding ties between academia, industry and Government in Canada
in research and HCI training. She was the Principal Scientist and
Head of the Human Factors Division at Telstra Research Laboratories,
Australia before joining Carleton University, where her job was to
ensure that all Telstra’s systems, services, and products including
voice products were usable.
Her research interests include human decision
making, affective- as well as multimodal/multimedia computing, and
graph comprehension. She has contributed several hundred peer-reviewed
articles and book chapters. She is deputy editor of the journal Interacting
with Computers.
