Disability Liaison Officers
Swinburne Disability Liaison Officers are available to assist students to access and fully participate in study by negotiating their support needs and clarifying the information that will be passed on to academic staff.
Making an appointment
Students with disabilities are invited to make an appointment with the relevant Disability Liaison Officer when enrolling in a Swinburne University course. If, during the course of your studies, you are injured or suffer an ongoing medical condition that impacts on your studies, you should also contact a Disability Liaison Officer for services and advice.

How the Disability Liaison Officer can help
Students are typically requested to provide information that will assist Swinburne in the planning and implementation of appropriate support services. The responsible Disability Liaison Officer will then discuss, with each student individually, the ways the disability may impact on study in order to determine the appropriate support services to be put in place, based on the recommendations of the student's health professional.
The Disability Support Service can arrange in-class adaptive equipment for students to undertake their program of studies for TAFE or Higher Education. Students who may require in-class adaptive equipment should contact the Disability Support Service for TAFE or Higher Education to discuss adjustments to standard class setups.
Once the services are determined, an access plan will be developed and a copy given to the student, and with the student's permission, a copy will be forwarded to the relevant academic staff.
These services can also be reviewed at any time, particularly if the student's circumstances change.
